Virginia Approved Vape Products

Virginia’s directory law covers products that contain nicotine. Nicotine analogues are different molecules sold as nicotine alternatives. Under the law as written today they are not “nicotine vapor products,” so they do not have to be on the directory. Potomac keeps them on the shelf in Virginia.

Names you may see on the box: 6-methyl nicotine 6-methylnicotine 6-MN Metatine Nixodine Nixodine-S Imotine nicotine analogue / analog

• The box or the supplier’s paperwork must name the analogue (for example “6-methyl nicotine”). Keep the supplier’s spec sheet or COA showing the active ingredient on file at the store.
• Not the same thing: “synthetic nicotine,” “tobacco-free nicotine (TFN)” and “nic salt” are all real nicotine — those products MUST be on the list.
• Tobacco rules still apply: 21+ only, check ID, ABC retail tobacco permit.
• This is a gray area and can change — a new law, Virginia ABC (which takes over vape enforcement on October 1, 2026) or FDA action could close it. If Potomac tells you to pull a product, pull it.
